VEGETABLE TUNA ROLLS

Craving something fresh, spicy, and ridiculously easy to make? These tuna salad wraps are a hit—creamy bonito, crunchy celery, and a double hit of hot sauce, all inside a toasted bun. A coastal classic with tons of flavor.

    • 1 white onion (finely diced)
    • 3 celery stalks (finely diced)
    • 300–400 g canned tuna or bonito (well drained!)
    • 200 g of mayonnaise
    • ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • Juice of 1 lemon
    • Piri-Piri Hot Sauce (for the mix)
    • Lime and Jalapeño Hot Sauce (for garnish)
    • 4 hot dog buns
    • ½ red onion (thinly sliced)
    • Smoked paprika
    • Chives (finely chopped)
    • Freshly ground black pepper

PREPARE THE TUNA MIX:
  • Drain the tuna or bonito well — get all the liquid out!
  • In a bowl, mix:
  • 2/3 of the chopped white onion
  • 1/3 of the chopped celery
  • The tuna is very dry
  • 80% mayonnaise / 20% Dijon mustard
  • Lemon juice
  • A splash of Piri-Piri sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Stir until you get a creamy and characterful mixture.

PREPARE THE TOPPINGS
  • Thinly slice the red onion.
  • Chop the chives very finely.

TOAST THE ROLLS
  • Brush with a little butter or dry toast the rolls until golden brown.
  • Open them in half.

ASSEMBLE AND SERVE:
  • Generously fill each roll with the tuna salad.
  • Garnish with red onion, chives, smoked paprika and black pepper to taste.
  • Finish with a splash of hot lime and jalapeño sauce.
